Joyful Echoes of Advent: A Special Day of Lessons and Carols
We held our special church service marking the third week of Advent on Sunday December 17th at 10:00 AM. This service featured a series of Lessons that reflected on the joyous anticipation of Christ’s birth.
In addition, we celebrated the festive season with the singing of beloved Christmas carols. We encouraged everyone to join with our two keyboard players and our special guest musician playing the violin and viola to fill our church with the harmonious sounds of the season.
Congregation members brought in a selection of Christmas baking for sharing in fellowship following the service.

Anglican Church Women’s Annual Peel-a-thon: A Day of Fellowship and Fun
On Saturday, November 18th, the St. Francis Anglican Church was filled with the sweet aroma of apples and the sound of laughter. The Anglican Church Women’s group (ACW) and a team of dedicated volunteers gathered for the annual apple peel-a-thon. This event is not just about peeling apples; it’s about coming together as a community, engaging in fellowship, and contributing to a cause close to our hearts.
This year, we were blessed with a generous donation of 10 boxes of apples from a local Okanagan orchard, owned by the daughter of one of our parishioners. We are deeply grateful for this contribution Tessa and Family! It enabled us to make and sell many delicious pies, raising funds for our church and community.
The peel-a-thon is a tradition that brings us all together. Each apple peeled, each pie prepared, is a testament to the spirit of community and shared purpose that defines our congregation. And of course, the first pie out of the oven, shared among all the volunteers, is a cherished tradition that adds a touch of sweetness to the day.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the ACW, our enthusiastic volunteers, and our generous parishioners. Your dedication and generosity make events like the peel-a-thon possible. Here’s to another successful year of apple peeling, pie making, and community building!

A Warm Welcome: All Souls/All Saints Day and Invitation Sunday
On a special day, our church community gathered not only to remember those we’ve lost but also to extend our hands in fellowship to new faces. It was All Souls/All Saints Day, a day of remembrance, and it was also our Invitation Sunday, a day of welcoming.
A Community United in Remembrance
After the sermon, we held a Memorial Procession of Candles. Members of our congregation came forward, each placing a candle on the table before the altar. Each candle represented a loved one who had passed away, their names offered silently or spoken aloud. We then prayed a blessing over the candles and the individuals they symbolized.
A Warm Welcome on Invitation Sunday
This day was also our Invitation Sunday, and we were joined by many new faces. Friends and neighbors came to our church, drawn by the desire to remember a loved one they had lost. Their presence added a new warmth to our congregation, a reminder that grief and remembrance are universal experiences that can bring us closer together.
Fellowship and Comfort in Shared Sustenance
Following the candlelight procession, we moved from the solemnity of the church to the warmth of the church hall. There, we shared in our first hot soup luncheon of the season. This was a time of fellowship and comfort, a chance to share stories and memories over bowls of steaming clam chowder and split pea soup.
In the glow of the candles and the warmth of shared sustenance, we found comfort and connection. We were reminded that while we may have lost loved ones, they live on in our memories and in the love we carry for them. And in welcoming new faces into our congregation, we found that our community of support and remembrance only grows stronger. On All Souls/All Saints Day and Invitation Sunday, we remembered, we welcomed, and we found hope and comfort in togetherness.
